A popular Proverb says, “A child thinks his father’s farm is the biggest farm in the world until he goes out and sees other farms.”
This proverb summarizes a central truth about life. Your world (your environment and experiences), is smaller than the world out there. However, you will not know this until you leave the familiar. It is only by leaving the familiar that you grow in experience, change and achieve great feats. One of the greatest limitations in life is what you see and how you see.
It is not easy to venture out because your ‘world’ is what raised and nurtured you. It is the familiar, and where you find acceptance.
However, God wants you to grow out of the familiar and expand your horizon spiritually and in other areas of life.
God told Abram to get out of his tent because it represented the familiar that limited & defined him. He needed to leave ‘his world’ to see the bigger world – the inheritance that God had for him. Abraham’s life was a series of God taking him from one level of glory to a higher.
Also, God wants you to keep advancing to a higher place of glory in life, but the question is, will you cooperate with Him?
