It is embarrassing when one who is hailed for his trust in God talks like this, when one who holds God in high esteem grovels before a man. Where is the confidence that comes from trusting in the Lord? Where is the boldness and courage of such who trust in the Lord?
Hezekiah, in this moment of weakness, had allowed the might of Assyria, the boastful words of Sennacherib and his illustrious résumé to shake his trust in the Lord. Like Peter, he had taken his eyes off the ‘Lord’ and was now overwhelmed and overtaken by the ‘storms.’
If we trust the Lord, we must trust Him still in the face of uncertainties and danger, for only then will the quality of our trust shine forth, of what sort it is. A torch’s light is of no value during the day, its intensity shall be tested when the darkness of night falls.
Therefore, raise your head, chin up and square your shoulders. Exercise your faith even in the face of your present challenge(s), and see what God will do, in Jesus name.
