Many fear and hate the word “failure,” they misunderstand and don’t talk about it, and so are most times not prepared for it. Thus, when they fail, the result is usually devastating. Unknown to these people, most successful people are failures who bounced back.
Failure is defined as a falling short in performing any expected action, or lack of success. Thus, when you are rejected at an interview, lose your investment or job, it is seen as failure. Also, failure occurs in academics, business, relationship, etc,.
As Christians, we desire and pray that we succeed at all we do; however, it appears that failure shows up sometimes. The question is, “Will your failure become a breakdown or a breakthrough for you?”
Winston Churchill said, “Success consists of going from failure to failure without the loss of enthusiasm.”
Hence, true failure is not the falling down but the staying down. So, what do you do when faced with failure? Will you pick yourself up like David did in today’s passage, or will you just give in and quit? The difference between those who succeed despite their failures and those who don’t, is their perception and response to failure.
