I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able… – I Corinthians 3:2
REFERENCE
I Corinthians 3:1-4 & 10-13
Continued from yesterday…
No right thinking parent will commit things of great value into the hands of a baby because a baby simply doesn’t have the capacity to take care of such. Likewise, God cannot commit things of value into the hands of spiritual babies, lest they destroy it or it destroys them.
Common traits of baby Christians include: shouting the loudest ‘amens’ in church, but never moving in faith. They look for hand me downs and quick fixes, they are not a blessing to anybody and they are never committed to serve in the vineyard of the Lord even though they have been Christians, planted in a local assembly for long.
Since they are unskilled in the word of righteousness, & have not developed their capacity, they can only be given milk; which is what they can handle. Yesterday we established that your spiritual growth affects what happens to your physical world. This means, these kind of Christians can only see ‘milk kind of blessings’ in their lives.
Just like taking only milk cannot satisfy adults, the ‘milk kind of blessings’ means, not having enough, managing through life or never coming into the fullness of what God has for you.
On the contrary, those who have come to full age are not necessarily old Christians but they obey the Word and are ready to work out their prosperity with the Word. They are quick to obey biblical instructions from their spiritual leaders. They have made a choice to be in the will of God, they serve faithfully in God’s vineyard and are a blessing to many.
