Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits. – Psalm 103:2
REFERENCE
Psalm 103:1-5
When you take a look at your life sometimes, you see someone who is committed to serving God but who doesn’t have the ‘commensurate results’ to show for it. Things have not worked out the way you planned; you’ve had setbacks and delays, and it seems like things are spiraling down. In this state, the devil tries to toy with your mind to think ‘nothing is happening in your life and ‘nothing good can happen for you.
It is a trick! Don’t fall for it! The strategy of the devil is to show you the things that are not working in your life, so you can become discouraged, begin to doubt God’s goodness and loose your enthusiasm for kingdom service. But, you can beat the devil at his own game by responding contrary to what he expects.
How? Make a conscious effort to remember and count all the many benefits of God in your life as outlined by today’s passage, and start singing about them. The prophet Habakkuk faced a difficult period in his life but he had this to say: “…Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.” (Habakkuk 3:17&18). He decided to look at the big picture – his ‘salvation’.
The devil might remind you today, that it is the middle of the year, yet your plan hasn’t panned out the way you expected. If you give the devil attention, he will give your life direction. Therefore, respond by reminding him you have salvation and nothing compares to that; sing about everything that works in your life, this will give you strength to face another day and keep your spirit hopeful in God.
Happy New Month!
