Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, ‘What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?…’ – Matthew 26:14-15
REFERENCE
Matthew 26:14-25
It is shocking to note that Judas was not approached by the chief priests, but that he went to them of his own accord. He must have been driven by greed and avarice, and of course, that made Satan find in him, a suitable vessel and a willing accomplice. Satan would soon exploit in a man’s life, for his own grand and sinister schemes, any sin the man does not conquer in his life.
Although Jesus predicted that one of His disciples would betray Him, He did not choose Judas to to it. Judas acted on his own free will; he couldn’t submit himself to God and so he couldn’t resist the devil when he came knocking at his door.
Betrayal, has been prevalent since bible times, and its painful when it comes from those who know you well. Using their knowledge to sell you out. Judas knew where Jesus was going to be at all hours of the day and he used that knowledge to sell Him out. (John 18:2). The love of money is definitely the root of all evil; Judas became a prey because of his love for money. (1 Timothy 6:6-10).
Lessons: Any weakness you don’t submit to God, Satan will exploit it to harm you.
Sin may feel pleasurable for a while, but it opens doors to evil and destruction.
