Now concerning spiritual gifts brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant. – 1 Corinthians 12:1

Apostle Paul realized that ignorance would rob you of something that has already been paid for you to enjoy; so he says you can’t afford to be ignorant where spiritual gifts are concerned. Spiritual gifts are special abilities distributed to believers by the Holy Spirit with the sole aim of building the body of Christ.
It is the Holy Spirit that wills what gift(s) a believer can have; but verse 31 of the passage admonished that you should desire to have the “best gifts,” – meaning you can actually receive any of these gifts by your genuine desire and longing for them.
Operating any of these gifts will make you an asset to the body of Christ and cause you to reign in life over the devil and circumstances of life. Just Imagine for an example, how much value someone who operates with the gift of healing or interpretation of tongues can truly add to your local assembly.
God however, will only be moved to allow the gift(s) flow in your life if you desire to use it for His glory and not to draw attention to yourself. It does not matter what gift the Spirit gives you, the body of Christ should be edified (built up) by it.
May you flow in the gift of WISDOM this Wednesday!
