But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’” Luke 4:4
REFERENCE
Luke 4:1-4
“
Man shall not live by bread (money or good planning) alone…” were Jesus’ first words after His ordination at Jordan. The implication of this statement is that, without the Word of God there is no true living; without it you cannot enjoy life or live victoriously. It means, when bread fails, the Word will sustain you, when money is gone, the Word will sustain and bring you money. Jesus Christ, though anointed without measure, submitted to the authority of Scripture and placed it above all other needs, desires and pursuits of mankind.
One of the banes of modern Christianity is that people no longer like sound doctrine, but have developed itching ears. Also, many people don’t want to take the time to study the bible for themselves but depend on what they hear on TV, social media or in church on Sundays. While it is good to get the Word through these avenues, God still wants to have a one-on-one with you.
This condition of not taking time to study the bible has made many people fall victim to, fake ministers, false prophets, false doctrines and seducing spirits. People have done despicable things, bought miracles and paid for prayers all because they are ignorant of the Word. The Word is the root of the miraculous. In fact, Jesus would rather you knew the Word than you had a miracle, because the Word rooted in your heart will produce miracles eventually. But miracles not rooted in the Word may open you to demon spirits; such miracles may not last, because should the ‘situation’ that warranted the miracle show up again, you will not know how to reproduce the miracle.
The Word of God is our sword, and faith in the Word is our shield. We should therefore be mighty in the Scriptures, and use that might in all our spiritual warfare. We should be willing to study & live by the Word, because therein is our basis for victorious Christian living.

PRAYER POINT
Pray for a hunger that will make the Word of God become the rejoicing of your heart.
Amen! The word of God is the ‘raw material’ that fabricated all that I see today. The word of God in my heart will eventually produce a miracle in my life.
Lord, I pray that you restore my love and passion for the Word of God, in Jesus name!
Thy word is a lamp into my feet… shining and guiding me on the right pathway!
May I ever be conscious of this truth!
Amen!
