Like a lily among thorns is my darling among women. Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my dearest compared to other men. I love to sit in its (his) shadow, and its (his) fruit is sweet to my taste. – Songs 2:2-3 (GoodNewsTranslation)

If you have a spouse with whom you can freely express such words as we find in our key verses today, you are indeed favored of the Lord; your thanksgiving should make angels blush. It is the desire of almost all young men and women to experience true love and raise children in the context of a Godly marriage. However, as you and I have witnessed severally today, more and more people who would like to share in this same experience seem to have this one wish elude them.
There is no better, lovelier and friendlier relationship or companionship on earth than a good marriage. Where else do you have the pleasure of sex without guilt, in what other form of relationship is pregnancy greatly desired and seen as a blessing, where else does two really become one and in what better environment would a child rather grow up, than in a good marriage? Marriage confers honor, it gives companionship, it extends our families and offers security and friendship…A GOOD MARRIAGE IS A BEAUTY TO BEHOLD!
Someone may say, “My marriage looks nothing like what you have described.” True, most marriages have one challenge or the other, but God still calls us all today to a grateful consideration of our marriages, with all their imperfections and things we would rather change.
So today, #iDareYou to thank God for your spouse. Thank your husband for his covering, provision and for standing in spite of all. Thank your wife for her loyalty, hard-work, support, prayers and unflinching help. Thank God for the #Unforgettable moments you share together.
Things may not be the way you want them, but I tell you, the grass on the ‘other side’ may not be as green as it looks. However, thanksgiving may just unlock the gate to a better marriage. Unmarried or hurting from a broken marriage? Thank God for a marriage you admire and watch what God will do for you.
