And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:4
REFERENCE
Acts 2:1-4
Speaking in tongues is one misunderstood topic in Christendom today, and yet it is a KEG OF GUNPOWDER that God has given to us. If you do not know the use of something, NEGLECT is oftentimes the result – and today, many people have neglected speaking in tongues or they do it sporadically.
Unlike the other gifts of the Spirit that manifested in the Old Testament, the gift of tongues is reserved exclusively for the New Testament Church. God’s revelation to His people is progressive; in the Patriarchal dispensation, He revealed Himself ‘TO’ Abraham, Isaac and Jacob at long intervals, so it was God to Man. In the Mosaic dispensation, He was present ‘WITH’ them in the Pillar of Cloud and Pillar of Fire, so it was God with Man. In this Church dispensation, the Holy Spirit has come to ‘TABERNACLE WITH US’ after Jesus’ resurrection, so it is GOD ‘IN’ MAN.
At new birth, man’s spirit is recreated and the renewed spirit upon being indwelt by the Holy Spirit, is given a language called ‘tongues of angels’ so that man’s spirit can have a language with which he communicates directly with the Spirit of God. No believer should joke with speaking in tongues because it is the gateway to the supernatural. Once you get filled, you should maintain a continual experience of speaking in tongues. It is a flowing stream that should never run dry in a believer’s life.
The Holy Spirit is God’s power residing in you for carrying out exploits on the earth, and ‘speaking in tongues’ is the Power Switch. The only language understood in the spirit realm is Power. So, speaking in tongues is POWER!
