I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. I Corinthians 2:3
REFERENCE
I listened to an interview with Rushion MacDonald. His story reinforced the belief I have that no matter where you are in life, you can still reinvent yourself. To reinvent is to change something that already exists so that it appears entirely new or different. It is to improve upon something that already exists. The word is synonymous with ‘remake, revamp, renovate, and refresh.’ Thus, to reinvent yourself means, to make noticeable changes in your life that would produce a better or an improved version of ‘YOU.’
The Message translation of Proverbs 4:18 reveal that, “The ways of right-living people glow with light; the longer they live, the brighter they shine.” This is God’s desire for every believer, that the longer we live, the better we should become. You can still pursue a career, learn something new, start an initiative, etc. So, as we have entered a new year, we should be thinking of making changes in our lives that will improve and make us better. You have not seen the best of you yet; there is more to you than meets the eyes – there are heights you yet can reach and potential within you, yet to be developed. In the days ahead on Inspired2Go, we will be going on a journey to reinvent you. Today, we begin by looking at one great obstacle to reinvent you – FEAR.
Fear will give you a hundred reasons why you can’t attempt what you know you should. It will show you pictures of failure; it will keep you longer than you want to stay, and it will tell you what can go wrong. The fear of failure has kept many from letting their ‘new you’ emerge, because they are afraid that people may not like them or patronize them; while some have remained in unproductive relationship because they are afraid no one else will want to date them. Fear is one weapon the devil uses to enslave, stagnate, incapacitate, and control people. However, ‘reinventing you’ is a journey you must embark on, no matter at what level of life you are in. Often fears are not real; they are to be overcome and surmounted.
Those who have overcome adversity and were able to do great things first overcame fear. To overcome your fear, you must first ask yourself, “Is what I am about to do, really what I want to do? How will it benefit me and mankind? Does it answer to the core of my being? Do I think God is sending me thus?” If these answers are in the affirmative, then be courageous, bite the bullet and proceed… Apostle Paul in our text went to the Corinthians in fear and trembling; but, he still went and did what he needed to do. “Courage is not the absence of fear; it is the judgement that something else is more important than fear.” – Meg Cabot
Another thing to do is have faith in God because faith conquers fear, get scriptures that feed your faith and testimonies that starve your fear. Fear does not always start as an enemy, until we allow it to; actually, the presence of fear is what triggers your need to depend on God; and having faith in God gives you victory over everything, including fear!
I end with this quote by Victor Hugo “The future has many names. For the weak, it is unattainable, for the fearful it is unknown, for the bold, it is ideal.” BE BOLD, RE-INVENT YOU!
