REFERENCE:
Daniel was an outstanding and extraordinary man; he led a successful life and found favor with God and man. The scripture captures why this is so: an excellent spirit was in him. As believers, the indwelling Holy Spirit makes us uncomfortable with mediocrity and to strive for distinction in all we do. He is the Spirit of wisdom that causes you to excel in all you do, stretching you to do all things decently and in order. The Holy Spirit is your Helper; He will bring all relevant information or ideas to your mind if you ask Him.
An excellent Spirit is a servant’s heart. It asks, “Will God be pleased with the work that I have done or the service I have rendered?” It seeks to please God at all times, doing everything as unto God. When you are a man of excellence, you go above and beyond the call of duty; you do not just do things, you do them well by going the extra mile. Jesus spoke of an excellent spirit in human relations; “Whatever you want men to do to you, do unto them.” If you follow this rule, you will have excellent relationships. Although the Holy Spirit gives us a competitive advantage in excellence, it is a culture we can cultivate. Here are some tips:
- Commit to being a life-long learner: Never be too stuck up to learn something new.
- Go the extra mile: Do your best in all you put your hands to, then improve upon it. Under promise and overdeliver.
- Pay attention to details: The difference between good and exceptional are the little details considered. If you are a tailor, measure twice and cut once.
- Never excuse mediocrity: No excuse is good enough. If it is not good, do it again. Do not say nobody will notice. People will, even I will.
- Finish whatever you start: Do not quit halfway. Press for the mark of the prize. Remember, quitters never win, and winners never quit.
Do you desire to excel and be the best? Ask the Holy Spirit; He was there at the beginning, working with God at creation. He will help you with your career, vocation, marriage, family, business, study, or ministry. All He needs you to do is ask Him for help; He will gladly step in and take you to greater heights in those areas.
I prophesy that henceforth, because God’s Spirit (of excellence) is in you, you will attract favors, promotions, appointments, open doors, better opportunities, bigger clients, and global recognition, in Jesus’ name – Amen!

I need to be consistent in striving for the best in all I do. I want everything in me to refuse and reject mediocrity, but approve only of excellence.
Holy Spirit make me so uncomfortable with mediocrity that I strive to live an excellent life in all I do, for by living an excellent life, my father is glorified in all I do!
