“For it shall come to pass in that day; says the Lord of hosts, ‘that I will break his yoke from your neck, and will burst your bonds; foreigners shall no more enslave them.” – Jeremiah 30:8
REFERENCE:
The children of Israel were in captivity in Babylon; according to records, their situation was so bad that men walked around in anguish, holding their stomachs like pregnant women. It had been many years, yet their freedom seemed delayed. Jeremiah had earlier written to them to plan to stay longer than expected in captivity but ensure they thrived in spite of the conditions. He said, “build houses…plant gardens…take wives and have children…” (Jeremiah 29:5-6).
In our text, however, the prophet sings a new song. He declares a sound from heaven, a sound of promised freedom: “A day is coming that I will break this yoke of slavery from your neck… and foreigners shall no more enslave you…I will save you from afar, and your seed from the land of their captivity. Jacob shall return, have rest and no one shall make him afraid.” No matter how dark it may look for God’s people at the moment, the plan of God is to deliver them; He will not permit the rod of the wicked to remain on the portion of the righteous. He wants to be Lord over His children and does not want any other influence or person to ‘lord’ it over them.
All through scriptures, God delivered His children from their oppressors, time and again: Pharaoh (Exodus 14:30), Sennacherib (II Kings 19:35-36), and allied enemy forces (II Chronicles 20:22-24). He hates oppression and anything that threatens the existence of His children; He will take their side to deliver them in mercy. No matter how inconveniencing a pregnancy is, the day of delivery will come, and joy will outweigh pain; the new baby will make the wait worth it. Be comforted if you are like the men of Judah who held their stomachs in anguish like pregnant women.
You may feel bound, oppressed, and suppressed. You may be struggling with financial or marital problems, sickness, addictions, emotional traumas, loss, an unabating pattern of lack, joblessness, or near-success syndrome. I bring you a new sound from heaven – this is your day of freedom! Jeremiah said, “It shall come to pass in that day.” Prophetically, I declare that you have entered your ‘that day’ from today. You will experience release, recovery, rest, deliverance, and the delivery of your dreams and expectations. Christ has paid the price for your freedom. Deliverance is guaranteed! I command every illegal oppressor in your life to lose you and let you go, in Jesus’ name.
