“I will bless the LORD at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” ~ Psalm 34:1
REFERENCE:
It is midyear, and thanksgiving is in order. Considering all God has done for you since the beginning of the year, your response should be unrestrained thanksgiving. Most Christians paused yesterday to thank God for bringing them midway in the year. It is easy, however, to emerge from the weekend and get into the hustle and bustle of life, treating thanksgiving like an event or a church service. But thanksgiving is not just for a particular day; it is for every day and every moment of our lives.
The Psalmist said, “I will bless the Lord at all times.” As ridiculous as this sounds, David introduced intentionality into his expression of gratitude. ‘At all times’ means no matter what happens, in all seasons of life, in the good and the bad times. It means that I will bless the Lord when my prayer is answered, when it delays in coming, or when all those I trust to help me back out on me. David continued: “His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” He made a once-for-all decision to make gratitude and praise a constant feature of his life. He would boast in the Lord, magnify Him, and exalt His name. God heard him when he prayed, He delivered him from trouble, and when he looked to God, he was not disappointed. Hence, his praise would be continuous.
As the year progresses, maintain an attitude of bragging about God all day long, praising Him irrespective of what happens, declaring His greatness, and magnifying His name. Someone else cannot do this for you; David said, “I WILL BLESS.” Thanksgiving is a personal commitment you make to God – Monday to Sunday, every month. Things may not be what you want yet in your finances, career, marriage, relationship, health, study, and in all other aspects of life, but because your God says those who seek Him shall not lack any good thing, lift your heart and hands, and bless Him at all times. He sees and knows; His word concerning you shall not fail; He will perform His word in your life, despite your present circumstance.
Commit to putting complaining out of your mouth; “Complaining complicates everything.” Constant gratitude increases your God-consciousness, makes you see possibilities rather than problems, and is a sure cure for anxiety and fear. Shut the devil up, let praise be in your mouth; you will soon handle what you are presently praying about, in Jesus’ name.
