“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” ~ I Corinthians 15:57
REFERENCE:
In this chapter, Paul writes the Corinthians about death, the king of terrors, to comfort them and to remove its sting and tyranny through fear over their lives. He encourages them that death is just a transformation of mortality to immortality, weakness to power, and dishonor to glory (I Cor 15:42-45). He then concludes that, “death has been swallowed up in victory.” Even over death, we have the ultimate victory in Christ.
If God guarantees victory over death, be assured that He wants us to have victory over life and its troubles. He can and does give His children victory in their distresses. Paul said, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness…? Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” He again said, “We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.” No matter what life threw at Paul, it never broke him; he always came out victorious.
Our assurance of victory in all the battles of life is rooted in the following:
a. The victory of Jesus over all satanic powers through His death on the cross. On that cross, He disarmed satan of his weaponry and stratagem of warfare against us. Hence, we are fighting a defeated enemy, and the battle is rigged in our favor.
b. We are children of God. John said, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world…” (I John 5:4). The DNA of a champion is in us. We cannot remain down forever. Since Jesus rose, you will also rise from every setback that attempts to bury you or set you back.
c. The power of faith. I John 5:4 further says, “…and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” All things are possible to whoever believes. You cannot knock a man of faith down and think you can count him out. He will rise again to win the battle still.
Let these truths be ingrained in your spirit and eliminate any victim mentality you might have. You have victory in Christ Jesus. You are not at the mercy of any man. You are not to beg or be pitied. You were not born again to suffer again but to reign again. Any battle you are currently engaged in suddenly turns in your favor. May the note of victory that is your inner reality by Christ begin to manifest in the physical, in the name of Jesus. You will not be a victim of the failing economy, sickness, disease, retrenchments, man’s error or wickedness, satanic manipulations or misrepresentation, or any negative pattern in your lineage. Jesus died for you, so you are sure of victory, and you are victorious, in Jesus’ name.
