GOD IS HOLY

 “…you shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.” – Leviticus 11:45b

God is holy and desires that we are Holy just as He is. He told Moses on the mountain not to come any closer but to take off his shoes, for he was standing on holy ground. God’s presence consecrated the mountain, making it holy. To be holy means to ‘be separated from everything that is profane, ungodly, or defiling;’ it means dedication to everything pure.

Psalm 93:5 says, “Holiness adorns (becomes) your house, O Lord, forever.” It simply means, “It is fitting and proper to have holiness in God’s house.” God, by nature, is holy; His thoughts and motives are holy, all His works are holy, and His word is holy. Therefore, the church (the body of Christ), which includes you and me, must be holy too. Scripture says, “Without holiness, no one will see God.” Sadly, the doctrine of holiness is absent in the church today; many believers prefer motivational messages to messages that call them to be ‘holy.’ They would rather receive from God without living for God. This has resulted in the compromise and sin we see in the church today. Churches now deal with issues that they wouldn’t think of years ago.

We have beautiful worship places, but believers live in sin; we are like a flowered tombstone with bones inside. Our music is captivating, and we use modern technology, but we are losing the life of the Spirit. Sin comes to church every Sunday wearing beautiful church masks. We lack power and have fewer answered prayers. “It is Grace Dispensation,” we say, but use grace as a license to sin. We write love songs for God, but what is love for God when the fear of God is lacking? The world has crept into the church, and it has become difficult to separate both.

Jesus said, if you love Me, you will keep My commandments. It calls us to repent and return to Holiness. Invest in your spiritual growth, subscribe to the Christianity that teaches us to wait with patient endurance, and be willing to pay the price for a godly life. Introspect and strip off whatever makes it difficult for you to stand boldly before God, for sin makes cowards of men. Daily take up your cross, turn your back on the world, and reckon yourself dead to sin and alive to God, for dead men cannot be tempted to sin. As a necessity, be Holy just as our God is Holy!
