“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…” ~ Proverbs 23:7
REFERENCE:
The mind of a man wields great power. God gave us all a creative mind – a powerful force that can condition or determine our outcomes in life. It is said that a man’s life will go in the direction of the thoughts that dominate his mind; his thoughts will act upon his life as a gust of wind acts on fallen dry leaves. King Solomon said in our text, “As he thinks, so is he.”
Most believers quickly forget that we have a mind that God expects us to use, the power of will, thoughts, and imagination. Man is a spirit; he has a mind and lives in a body. We often exercise the spirit and the body but neglect the mind. Yet, what goes on in the mind affects our words, decisions, and actions. It is too vital a part of our being to ignore; it must be harnessed.
God has not left you at the mercy of your circumstances; if you can use your mind, you can escape every predicament. You can create a world of success and beauty through the power of the mind – what you think and how you think. Solomon said, “As he thinks in his heart, so is he.” It is why satan, through many external and internal stimuli, tries to gain control of our minds. Have you ever thought of how many mind-battles you fight daily?
The parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:13-19 is an example of how you can change the trajectory of your life by your thoughts. The young man would have died of lack in that faraway land where no one gave him anything after he squandered his wealth. Yet, he escaped with his life because he engaged his mind and was able to come up with a solution for his predicament – “He came to himself…and said to himself…I will arise and go.” All these happened in his mind.
The language of the mind is words and images; therefore, mind what you hear and see. It will influence how and what you think (about), which will eventually affect your life. The mind is for thinking and for imagining (making images). You will succeed at anything if you succeed at creative thinking and imagining. As (according to how) he thinks, so is he (going to turn out).
