“Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” ~ Matthew 6:26
REFERENCE:
To pretend that all is well in the times we live is to behave like an ostrich that buries its head in the ground, believing that what it does not see or affect it. The economy is tough, and money is losing its spending power; it is easy to be agitated by fear and anxiety about our financial well-being. However, we must live by faith and trust God’s unwavering provision.
Our text assures us that if God takes care of the birds of the air, how much more will He take care of us, His precious children? He knows our needs and can sustain us through any economic difficulty. David, understanding this, said, “I was young, and now I am old, I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their seed begging bread.” Acknowledging God’s faithfulness in times of financial uncertainty is how faith would respond; faith believes that God is its source.
God has never failed His people, even in the most challenging times. He ensured that Elijah was cared for in a famine through ravens, a brook, and later by a widow. He also sustained and provided for the Israelites in the wilderness beyond their expectations. The present economic situation is no exception. God’s readiness to care for His children in uncertain times extends to all aspects of our lives, including our finances. He will supply according to His riches.
Living by faith in a challenging economy also means aligning our priorities with God’s kingdom. Jesus encourages us to “seek His kingdom and righteousness first, and all these things will be added to you.” When we prioritize God’s kingdom, He takes care of our needs. As we serve God faithfully and trust in His provision, we can rest assured that He will sustain us and meet our financial needs. Busy yourself with God’s agenda, and God will busy Himself with your concerns.
As times and seasons change, anchor your heart in faith. God is committed to sustaining and taking care of you. Trust His provision, knowing that He has never forsaken His children. Seek to promote His kingdom priorities and watch as He abundantly provides. Surrender your fears and concerns to God, committing to live by faith, knowing He is faithful to take care of you.
