“Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works which You have done; and Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order; if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.” ~ Psalm 40:5
REFERENCE:
Overwhelmed by the quality and quantity of God’s dealings in his life, David exclaimed, “Many are Your wonderful works.” He concluded that the things God does are innumerable, several, and diverse. David was also awed by God’s constant care, which reflects His thoughts toward us. Every good deed that God does is an expression of His thoughts towards you and me.
The year’s first half is gradually coming to a close, and the second half will soon commence. You are reading this now because you are alive, fought and won battles, overcame setbacks, and received goodness from God. All these mean that God is not done with you yet; you have hope. Therefore, you have every reason to be grateful to God for how far He has brought you.
Nothing God does for you is casual or ordinary; much thought, planning, and love go into it. You passed an exam, escaped death or an accident, got a job or promotion, were recognized at work, or got a pay raise because God thought it fit to honor and bless you. He saw your tears, struggle, and anxiety; He heard your prayers; He deserves thank. Thanksgiving is more than just a polite ‘thank you;’ it is a heartfelt response to the benefits of God in one’s life.
You may say, “I didn’t achieve much in the first half of the year; I wonder what the second holds.” God promised that “The path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day’ (Proverbs 4:18). Give God advance praise, and thank Him for the second half, for what He will yet do. Let your thanksgiving precede your miracle as an expression of unwavering faith in God’s power to work all things to your advantage.
Why should you thank God in advance? It shows that you have hope, trust His character, and that He has your good at heart and will work all things in your favor. Thank Him because He will not let satan prevail against you. Many wonderful works await you in the second half of the year. Thank God now as though you are already living in the reality of your desires and expectations.
