“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” ~ Psalm 32:8
REFERENCE:
I recently had to drive in a country I visited. I was a stranger there but desired to visit places of interest for sightseeing, eating, and shopping. These were places I had never been to, but I went without asking anyone on the road for directions. Why? I had internet connectivity on my phone, and a voice whose face I do not know (on Google Maps) guided me to my destinations. It told me about speed limits, correct lanes, best routes, toll points, etc. It was a trusted guide.
I totally depended on Google Maps because I knew nothing about the environment. In my home city, however, I occasionally ignore the map because I know other routes and am faintly familiar with even new parts of the city. While abroad, I could take no such risk, no matter how adventurous or inquisitive I felt. I couldn’t just put the Maps off and choose to ‘explore the city.’
Life is like a maze. Many people, assuming they could navigate life without guidance from a divine guide, have run into roadblocks and cul-de-sacs and crashed their destinies. There is a road that seems right but leads to ruin. This devotional is a clarion call to turn on your maps – get connected to God, a trusted guide, and let His voice guide you as you travel the treacherous road of life.
God says, “I will instruct, teach, and guide you in the way you should go with My eyes.” Yield and submit to Him for His promised guidance. He knows the way you should go and the place to find profit so that your life can be more meaningful. I didn’t argue with the voice on the map; I obeyed. Until you learn to trust God completely, you will never know Him as a trusted guide.
Don’t be as stubborn as the horse or mule. They don’t give obedience easily; it takes force to get their compliance (bits and bridles). God will not guide someone like that. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and quickly respond to divine cues. Understand that God will always work for your good. I pray that you will be quick to perceive and respond to what the Spirit wants always.
