DON’T JUST SIT, MOVE!

“Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, “Why are we sitting here until we die?””– II Kings 7:3

You can’t move when you sit and think you can’t move. That is life for you. Many people are so paralyzed by the analysis of the likely unfavorable outcomes if they move that they have just decided to sit and hope that things improve. Yet, inactivity is responsible for most failures in life. If you want to live a life of progress and success, don’t sit; move. Nothing moves until you move.

I don’t know why God made it so, but our life is often at the mercy of our thoughts. The lepers in our text were confined to a life of isolation and poverty; sitting at the city gate, they began to think and challenge their status quo. Perhaps, they thought thus: “Nobody ever made progress sitting. We’ve been sitting here for days and things are getting worse, not better. Is this right?”

Although it is good to make a move, it is better to move because God has given you a word. Elisha had prophesied that God would bring a change to the country the next day, and by that prophecy, God was ready and willing to move; all He sought was men who would move with Him. Although the four lepers were not physically there, they picked up the divine signal that grace was available for supernatural turnaround. They decided to make a move.

“Why sit here until we die.” You will not see a need to move until you question your situation, progress, output, marriage, or career. You must become fed up with sitting and wasting away. Something must burn you enough to make you move. Therefore, don’t pray away your present displeasure; let it propel you to go! “You cannot change what you are willing to tolerate.”

Why sit here until we die?’ Something dies when you sit for too long, doing nothing about improving – a gift, friendship, or relationship; it will cost you an opportunity, anointing, and appointment. To ‘sit’ is to delay action or decision concerning something. Sitting speaks of inactivity, lethargy, unconcern, defeat, acceptance of the status quo, unwillingness to try, and a giver-up spirit. You deserve more. Even a car parked in a place for too long begins to develop faults. Decide today, “Don’t just sit; move!”
