“You pushed me violently, that I might fall, but the Lord helped me.” ~ Psalm 118:13
REFERENCE:
Psalm 118:13-15
There was a song by Maranatha Music that comforted me as a young believer going through adverse times. It says, “I look up to the mountains, to the hills I lift my eyes, who will come to help me, can I find a place to hide? The One who made the heavens and the earth will hear my call; the Lord will come to help me, and He will not let me fall.” The Chorus says, “He will not let you fall; He will not let you fall; He is never weary, and He will not let you fall.” That is so true.
In today’s Psalm, the psalmist expresses the distress caused by the enemies surrounding him; their hatred, betrayal, and wickedness hurt him. He said they surrounded him like bees—imagine that. David felt pressured and pushed by all their violent antics, but he declared that God would not let him fall, no matter how violently they went against him.
He WILL NOT! It is expressed in the strongest of terms. ‘Will’ expresses an inevitable event or the facts about a person’s ability or capacity. That means God will keep you from falling because He can do so. He will not permit you to fall; He will not take sides with your opposers against you; He will push back when they push you; He will not let you lose your footing, and He will not let you fall. No matter what it is now, God will not let you fall.
We stand on a high pedestal with God, seated with Him in the heavens, far above principalities and powers. Satan envies this position and would do everything he can to dislodge you from it. All he throws at you is to make you fall from grace and out of the boundaries of God’s love. He wants to soil your testimony and discourage you from following God.
You may be facing trials or temptations. Various forms of opposition may have risen against you in the office, and you may feel under intense pressure to compromise your faith or stand. Know that God will bear you up and not let you fall. Let all the fury of hell arise; let Satan puff and pant. God can stop them, quench their violence, and tame their anger. You will win, in Jesus’ name.
