“Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.” ~ Genesis 28:15
REFERENCE:
‘Until’ speaks of the continuance of an action or a condition up to a specified time. It points to a process leading to a specific result at a particular time. ‘Until’ is the time between the beginning of a thing and its end; it is when we battle with discouragement, consider quitting, or try other options. God’s word to you now is that He will be with you in your ‘until’ season, until it’s done.
Jacob was at a low moment in his life. He received his father’s blessing, promising him the dew of heaven and the earth’s fatness. He would be master over his brethren, peoples would serve him, and nations would bow to him. Whoever blessed him would be blessed, and if anyone cursed him, the person would be cursed. What a blessed state! Yet he was in the ‘until’ place.
Imagine Jacob’s situation: blessed but running, fearful, tired, and broke. He was blessed but had no bed to lay on, destitute and unsure of his immediate future. God met him in that place of despair and defeat. The text says, ‘the sun had set.’ This picture added to the despair and gloom Jacob felt. The sun’s setting took away every glimmer of light or hope he had regarding the future that lay. Upon the withdrawal of light, he withdrew to sleep.
The turning point came for Jacob when, in his dream, he heard the voice of God, “I am with you and will keep you wherever you go…I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.” God assured Jacob that through his ‘until’ season, He would be there with Him to ensure that the blessings spoken over him came to pass. He may go through times of pain, lack, fear, or distress, but he would never be alone. God would be with him until it’s done. Until he prospers!
God says to you this morning, “Dear Son/Daughter, I am with you through this season of your life. I know you are holding on to My promise, yet, it seems like nothing is happening; I am working. I will be with you, keep you through the waiting period, comfort you in tiredness, and I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.” If Jacob’s promise came to pass, I assure you that yours too will. Hold on to God and His promise until it’s done in your life.
