For thus says the LORD: ‘You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink.’ And this is a simple matter in the sight of the LORD… – II Kings 3:17-18

Most times we make plans and draw our conclusions from what we can see around us. E.g. If you are a salary earner and you run out of money just half way through the month, and there is no one to bail you out, it is likely that you will begin to ready yourself for tough times till pay day. But not so with God, He doesn’t conclude on situations the way we do, because His ways are higher than ours.
The import of today’s text played out in my family several years ago. After our morning devotion one day, I heard my wife sobbing, when I asked her why, she said it was because things were tight for us financially, and it didn’t look like it was going to rain soon (the situation abating).
Although she was stating the fact, I was able to console her to see the brighter side of life. Two days after that incident, someone gave me a cheque of a sizeable sum of money which covered most of our financial needs at that time.
Apparently this person made a vow to God that if his daughter secures admission to a ‘private university’ (which is not even a challenge as long as you can afford the fees) in Nigeria he was going to give me that amount of money. I knew nothing about this commitment he made.
What a wonderful surprise! We didn’t see the winds or rain but our valley was filled with water, because that is also a simple matter in the sight of God. So don’t feel stuck, stop letting what it seems like determine your mood or your plans. Trust God to use an unlikely channel to meet your needs, whatever they may be!
Have a wonderful weekend!
