Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities,… – Psalm103:2-3

REFERENCE
Psalm 103:1-5

Thanksgiving season is one of the most memorable of all seasons; because it gives us an opportunity to pause and thank God for His many blessings. Thanksgiving gives us the benefit of hindsight; we can look back at our lives and see what God brought us through. The prayers He answered and the blessings He gave us. Also, we can see things we didn’t even pray for that He brought to us. And it gives us the privilege of foresight to look hopefully into the coming year.

Thus, Thanksgiving is more than a polite “thank you” you say when someone does something good for you, it must be your heartfelt response to the benefits of God in your life. Some of you might look at your life and say nothing changed for you this year; things were tough, you think you don’t have a testimony etc., so you wonder if there is any reason to be thankful to God.

But the very fact that you are here today is solid proof that you have been a recipient of great mercy from God. The challenges of the moment should not make you forget that God is good and He has been very good to you. Do not let ingratitude grieve the heart of God this season of thanksgiving; if you can just pause and think, you will know He has been good to you.

As a born-again Christian, one solid reason you have for thanking God this season, is for your salvation. Yes! That is sufficient reason because salvation is costly… Psalm 49:6-8 reveals to us that the richest man cannot pay for the salvation of one man; because the redemption of a man’s soul is costly.

You were not redeemed with the blood of goats and bulls, or perishable things like gold and silver. But with the blood of the Son of God. So, the fact that your name is written in the Lamb’s book of life, that you are not headed for hell, and that you have been redeemed from shame is enough reason to thank God today.

Join us the rest of this week as we look at reasons for being thankful. You definitely should SHOW and TELL of God’s goodness in your life this season.
