For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; – Deuteronomy 8:7

What did Mary the mother of Jesus do, to qualify to be the one who brought forth our Savior, Jesus Christ into the world? The answer is nothing; she was simply a product of God’s divine favor…at least, so the Angel said. (Luke 1:30)

Do you know how your life would have been if you were not where you are presently and didn’t have the things you presently enjoy? Do you know that where you are right now, that you see as ordinary and may have even despised is what others are praying for?

How come you have a job and a position of influence when you are not the most qualified person around? How come your business is thriving when others are shutting down? How is it that you are able to send your children to school abroad or buy properties (legally) in an economic down turn?

If things were merit based, you shouldn’t be the one who’s married seeing you have 2 unmarried older siblings. You shouldn’t be the one with children considering your medical history. You should have been the one who died in that car accident but for some reason, you are here today. That financial problem should have swallowed you up, but God had mercy. You can’t explain why certain negative traits in your bloodline are not following you. Why did other patients in the accidents and emergency ward of the hospital die, but you came out? It was because God favored you…No, it was not by coincidence.

Or should we talk about the many things God did in your life in spite of what people planned, predicted and even pronounced over you? They had penned down your name for retirement/dismissal/removal, but you survived it. All indications pointed to you not lasting in your marriage, but see, it’s been 12 years of fun. Think of the house or shop you are renting and the deal you got on the rent; your co-tenants still wonder how it happened. It is because God has shown you favor. You have every reason to thank God this season for His unmerited favor in your life; you are who you are by the grace of God. It has not been by your power or by your might, God is the One who has caused you to differ from others.
