It is a blessing to be at the threshold of a new season – a new year. However, you cannot afford to just go into the New Year without knowing the mind of God for you this year. You just don’t want the year to happen on you and you just follow it aimlessly (taking whatever it throws at you). What worked for you in previous years may not work for you this year and you cannot kill new giants with old strategies, because each year offers its own unique challenges and opportunities.
God told the children of Israel as they prepared to cross the Jordan that they had not been that way before. I want you to know that you have not been this way before, you have not seen this year before; it is the first there is in the history of mankind. You may have been in 2016, 2005, 1996, 1965 or even 1922, but you have not been this way before. That is why you can’t just go into the year without getting directions and instructions from the God who lives in eternity – the God who knows and holds tomorrow.
From our text, God called Moses to build the tabernacle according to the pattern He would show him. This included the external dimensions of the tabernacle and the details of all the furnishings inside. God was not going to leave anything to Moses’ whim or judgment; every detail must be followed for it to line up with the picture in the mind of God. It is interesting to know that God has a pattern in heaven for all earthly ‘structures’ – that includes your business, your marriage, your calling, your career, your children, etc.
God is very concerned about every detail of your life, just as He was concerned about every detail of Moses’ tabernacle (for you are now the temple of His Holy Spirit). For that reason, you cannot afford for your life to be ‘hit and miss;’ it cannot be by trial and error; every detail must and should be according to the heavenly pattern. God has a unique plan/pattern for everybody, that is uniquely different from that of another person, and this plan is in the mind of God for the individual.

Ask for ears that will hear the voice of God and an understanding heart that will easily accept His pattern for 2020 and run with it.

Very timely message. Big thank you to Pastor Wale Afelumo. I read the passage in Joshua past verse four and I found it interesting that Joshua then said to the people “sanctify yourselves…” I went further to cross-check the meaning of the word “sanctify” and I dare say it is worth looking up. I’m glad to receive these teachings at the start of a new season.
