It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. – Lamentations 3:26
REFERENCE
Lamentations 3:24-26
Although, Scripture says, “All the promises of God in Christ are YES and in Him, Amen,” God’s response to our prayers, from man’s perspective, comes to us in 3 forms: YES, NO and WAIT! ‘Yes’ is exhilarating. ‘No’ can be disappointing, but you are assured of your fate. However, ‘WAIT’ can be a bit perplexing – it starts with the joy of knowing it is not a ‘NO,’ but after a while, you begin to wonder when… and then, discouragement begins to set in.
As believers and even in life, we are always in-between where we are and where we want to go. In-between prayers and answer, in-between work and pay, in-between singlehood and marriage, etc. Therefore, we must learn how to handle our ‘in-between’ (waiting) period well because it is a period that is not only unavoidable, but sometimes can be a training period.
This week on #Inspired2Go we will be looking at this all-important topic of “Waiting on God.”
To WAIT means to stay where one is or to delay action until a particular time, or until something else happens. It also means to remain in readiness for some purpose (like a waiter in a restaurant, ready to minister to the guest’s needs). Therefore, to wait on God connotes that you are in active service, while you expect Him to act on your behalf, irrespective of when, without losing faith or enthusiasm.
One of the most difficult things for our generation to do is to wait. We are a microwave and instant messaging generation; we don’t like to wait. We desire instant gratification; but we serve a God who has all the time and makes everything beautiful in its time. Many people don’t handle waiting well; they conclude that God has forgotten them or is delaying too much, and they soon lose hope. Many have sought for alternatives that were detrimental to them and altogether shipwrecked their faith.
Perhaps you might want to ask, “Is there a time to stop waiting? The answer is ‘NO.’ Keep waiting until the desire is met. Wait till God gives you a different instruction or leads you in a different direction. Wait until your miracle happens.
Although it is a good thing to wait on God, many people don’t because of several reasons. Find out what some of these reasons are in the following episodes.
