“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” – Psalm 34:1
REFERENCE:
We have journeyed quite far into the year. This time comes with mixed feelings for different people. Some people are counting their wins or mourning their alleged losses, and some regret delayed hopes. What they do have in common, however, is life – life to count wins, mourn losses, or smart over delays. Life is our greatest achievement; it is God’s best gift to us.
The Living Bible in Psalm 34:1 says, “I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I will constantly speak of His glories and grace.” David realized gratitude is not a seasonal event; it must be a way of life – done in and out of season. It is not a function of what we have but of the fact that we are; that we are alive, healthy, eating, and breathing without any medical aid. Gratitude should be independent of circumstances, lest we tie who God is to how well He ‘performs’ in our lives. God is God all the time! This realization ultimately moves our mountains and reveals His hands in our lives. A man that has not learnt the language of gratitude will constantly experience mood swings – sad today, excited tomorrow, grateful at month-end, grumpy during the month, etc. Instead, God’s praise should be continual.
I was recently convicted of this while listening to a Pastor who said he has never noticed any down moment in ministry. For him, everything is a reason for thanksgiving. If attendance drops, he doesn’t dwell on it but is awed that God would even bring anybody at all. His ministry has grown exponentially today. Gratitude unlocks the doors to our next level that ingratitude and complaining have shut. If you are not grateful for the little things, you will close the doors to bigger things.
Pause, look back at the year and your life, and make your boast in the Lord. Lift a voice of gratitude to Him. Thank Him for your wins and supposed losses. Decide to praise Him irrespective of events in your life, declare His greatness and magnify His name. Everything may not be how you desire it in your finances, career, marriage, relationships, or health, but as a believer from the tribe of Judah, let your praise be continual, and bless the Lord at all times.
May your gratitude/praise open new doors for you. May it show you a way out of your present dilemma, fill your heart with joy, and your home with God’s aroma of favor, in Jesus’ name.
