“You’ll see them working and toiling all summer long, stockpiling their food in preparation for winter.” – Proverbs 6:8 (TPT)
REFERENCE:
Diligence is steady, earnest, and energetic effort; it is being devoted to painstakingly working or applying yourself to accomplish an undertaking. Solomon counsels us to learn diligence from the ants by considering their ways. They have no captain, overseer, or ruler, yet they gather food in summer to prepare for a cold winter. You see them ‘roaming’ around, tirelessly working at meeting their needs and doing the right things at the right time. That is diligence!
Diligence is one of the strongest forces on earth. A man labeled as a failure or good-for-nothing can excel and prosper just by being diligent. Diligence can revive a dying business and restore the lost passion of a dry and tasteless marriage; it can turn what you see as a mistake into a miracle. It will take an ‘F’ student to the honor roll and make an employee enjoy numerous promotions on his job, many times over his colleagues. It can rekindle passion for ministry. You cannot write a diligent man off. Diligence will lift him above his limitations, hostile conditions around him, the ill luck of his background, and the poverty that presently binds him.
If you want to reign in life, you cannot afford to sit on your hands. You must work hard at doing what is noble – that is diligence. Proverbs 12:24 says, “The hand of the diligent will rule, but the lazy man will be put to forced labor.” The lazy man who refuses to devote painstaking effort to what he does will end up working to make someone else succeed. You must be diligent to walk into your wealthy place. You have to be a man who has ‘staying ability.’ The ability to stay with something for as long as it takes until you see the results you hope for or what God has promised you. Abraham waited for 25 years for Isaac, consistent and diligent in praising God.
A diligent man is not a sprinter but a long-distance runner. He does not give up easily when things are contrary; his diligence changes everything around him, and it eventually pays off. He is willing to keep praying, studying, learning, asking, working, trying, inviting, advertising, knocking, etc., until he gets his desire and until the door opens. He is ready to wait forever (although he would not have to wait forever). He does not tire out; he keeps at his goal. A diligent man who consistently gives his best at work will get promoted. BE DILIGENT!
