“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest.” – Matthew 11:28 (MSG)
REFERENCE:
Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)
Jesus extends an invitation to everyone who feels tired, burnt out, or worn out by the pressure of living in these times. This invitation is valid because you can find true rest for your spirit, soul, and body in Him. Tiredness, especially emotional, comes from bearing emotional burdens, family cares, anxieties, facing difficult situations, or just being numbed by the weight of responsibility on you. You don’t have to bear them alone; Jesus says today, “Tired? Come to Me!”
A lot of things place heavy burdens on people today: joblessness, insecurity, unrelenting trials and disappointments, peer pressure, harsh economic realities, lack, sickness, anxiety about the future, and the hopelessness that comes as a result of doing all you know to do but not getting satisfactory results to show for your efforts. God knows and cares; Jesus is our burden bearer.
Today’s text assures that just as real as your care, burden, or burnout is, that is how real your help in Jesus Christ is. We often quote today’s passage, but have you intentionally handed all your worries, burdens, and troubles to Jesus? Perhaps, the fact that you still feel tired and burnt out from the cares of life indicates that you are trying to be your superhero.
Hebrews 4:15 describes Jesus as the High Priest who is touched by the feelings of our ailments. Everything that touches you as a believer touches Jesus too. He is in touch with your pain and reality; He sees, knows, and cares. He is the Potter – a mender of broken hearts, lives, and dreams. So, get away with Him to recover your life, health, and sanity. In Him, you will find rest for your heaviness, health for your sickness, and joy for your distress.
Jesus said, “Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.” The unforced rhythms of grace speak of living without care or anxiety, knowing God’s got you. It is resting in Calvary’s finished work, understanding that God’s grace makes a man, not his power or might. So, go on a journey of letting Jesus in on all your ways, learning and moving to His rhythm, and you will have real rest. Tired? Come to Me.

PRAYER
Lord, I thank You for the promise of rest from heavy-laden when I come to You. Today, I come to You and surrender the cares of my heart at Your feet. I leave them there permanently, and I will not fret about them again, neither will I try to overcome them with my strength. I refuse to eat the bread of sorrow but choose to rest in You, who is touched by everything that touches me. Thank You because You will mend all my brokenness for Your name’s sake, amen!
