“Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, “Why are we sitting here until we die?”– II Kings 7:3
REFERENCE:
Nothing moves until you move; this truth is one of Newton’s laws of motion: ‘Every object will remain in a position of rest unless acted upon by a greater external force.’ The word of God is a powerful force; God created the world by it. However, as long as it remains on the pages of the bible or in our heads, it profits nothing. We must act on the word to see miracles.
The word of God went forth through Elijah that God would turn the famine in 24 hours. The king’s economic adviser doubted it would happen. What God expects when His word goes forth is the obedience of faith and not useless speculations and intellectual rationalization. Although absent when Elijah spoke the word, the four lepers represent those who act on the word. After the word went forth, a stirring in their hearts caused them to move from their position of rest to a place of action.
The lepers were at the gate’s entrance, close to their breakthrough but not in it. Social stigma, personal fear, and lack of the necessary merits kept them out. Likewise, you are always at the threshold of a blessing, and the distance between you and it is obedience. What gate are you sitting at now that you are not entering? What gate has shut you out?
The Lepers said: “Why sit here till we die.” You will only see a need to move when you question your situation, experience, painful patterns, progress, output, marriage, or business; when you are tired of how things have been, you can see a need to act. You cannot change what you are willing to tolerate (Mike Murdock). So, take an honest appraisal of your situation today.
“…UNTIL WE DIE?’ Something dies when you sit for too long, refusing to act on the word – an idea, opportunity, anointing, gift, friendship, calling, etc. The lepers’ sitting posture speaks of delaying action or decision about something. Sitting speaks of inactivity, lethargy, acceptance of the status quo, defeat, unwillingness to try, and a quitting spirit. Even a car parked in a place for too long begins to develop faults. Do you have a word from God? Don’t just sit; act on the word.

PRAYER:
+ I refuse to settle at the gate to my breakthrough, refusing to enter. I throw off the yoke of lethargy, excuses, apathy, and lack of interest in my life.
+ Break every shackle that life/Satan has tied around your legs to stop you from moving.
+ I arise today and act on the word You have spoken to me. As I take the step of obedience, I experience overwhelming results in Jesus’ name.
Amen
