HAD THEY KNOWN

“Which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” ~ I Corinthians 2:8

Easter is a time to remember the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus on the cross of Calvary for the sins of man. As it is a season of gratitude and celebration for us, it is a time of regret for the unseen demonic rulers of this world. Satan and his demons took a gamble they would regret forever. It was a wrong calculation; had they known, they would not have crucified Christ, the Savior.

Satan must have rejoiced when God changed address to live with man. That descent of a holy God into human flesh suggested an opportunity to strike and settle the ‘God-issue’ once and for all to satan. If he could not deal with God in the glory of His divinity, he certainly would when He came as Jesus, God-in-the-flesh. Satan decided to unleash his hatred and anger on Jesus.

When Jesus (the God-man) came, He taught people about God’s kingdom. He went to homes and raised the dead. He cleansed incurable leprosies and restored the sight of men born blind. The Bible says, “He went about doing good and healing all oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” It further infuriated satan: “If we kill him, we will stop his ministry.”

Satan proceeded to kill Jesus at the hands of wicked men. He slew Him who knew no sin and in whose mouth was no deceit. But since the day Jesus died, satan and his demons have known no peace. The death of Jesus was a game changer – it changed His status, for God gave Him a name that is higher than all other names. He took the key of death and hell from satan and led those held in captivity as captives of righteousness and peace. Jesus became the Savior of the world.

Had they known that all these would be the outcome, satan’s crew would not have killed Jesus. As a blood-bought child of God, you have the same covenant with God through the resurrection of Jesus. Anything satan throws at you to stop, delay, or frustrate you will turn for your good. You may be dealing with a setback now, but you will bounce back, and satan will regret ever afflicting you. I tell you, today, satan goes about biting his forefinger in regret, “Had I known…”

PRAYER:

+ I thank You, Father, for turning the seeming defeat at the cross into the greatest victory ever.

+ I declare that soon, satan will look at Your goodness towards me and regret that he ever afflicted me.

+ I decree that my present light affliction is working a greater weight of glory for me.
