The Lord has saved me from lions and bears; He will save me from this Philistine. I Samuel 17:37 (GNT)

British historian, Lord Acton, said, “History is not a burden on the memory but an illumination of the soul.” The ability to bring to mind what God did in the past can be a faith booster to believe God for what He will do in the now. Has God ever saved you from something? Did He save you from an ailment that threatened to take your life? Were you delivered from a ghastly motor accident? As the breadwinner of your family, when you lost your job and used up your savings, did His favor bring you a new job/business? When your back was against the wall in different aspects of your life and it looked like it was over for you, did God save you from shame by making a way of escape for you? I believe your answer will be ‘YES!’
When David faced the giant – Goliath, it seemed like Goliath was going to devour him. However, he had a winning strategy; all he had to do was to ‘arm’ himself with his history with God. He looked back and reminded himself of God’s past deliverances in his life. David gained the confidence to face and conquer Goliath because he knew from his past dealings with God that he could count on God to give him the required victory…he had once had an experience of victory.
What are you confronting that looks so gigantic for you to handle? Is your back pressed against the wall and it seems like there is no way of escape for you? Remember you also have a good history with God, if not you won’t be here today. What you went through in the past would have consumed you, but for God’s saving grace. You are standing today as a testimony that God’s hand has been in your history.
Therefore, like David, arm yourself with history and remind yourself of what God did for you in the past. It is possible that He has even delivered you from much worse than what is confronting you right now. God doesn’t grow weaker with time; so, show confidence in His ability to save you, and then confront whatever is confronting you with boldness.
God remains faithful. He will come through for you. He saved and delivered you in the past; He is able to do it again and again. What you are going through right now won’t destroy you…IT TOO SHALL PASS! Arm yourself with history and you will come out victorious on the other side.

TO DO
Meditate on the victories God gave you in different aspects of your life in the past and thank Him again for each of them. Also, declare that whatever challenge (call it by name) that is confronting you right now will also pass (as the previous ones did) and you will come out unscathed.
If it were not for God…
I thank you Lord for past victories and thank you that you will do it again and again and again…Praise God!
Thank You Lord, You delivered and provided for me in the past, You will do it again for me. I arm myself with history and declare that, ” You are a faithful God.”
THANK YOU LORD FOR ALWAYS COMING THROUGH FOR ME!
