“And when these lepers came to the outskirts of the camp, they went into one tent and ate and drank, and carried from it silver and gold and clothing – II Kings 7:8a”
REFERENCE
The lepers in our text today said, “This is a day of good news.” God turned their destiny and their lives around by orchestrating events that reversed years of famine for the whole Jewish nation, culminating in good news. It is noteworthy that God caused their enemy, Syria, to go to war with gold and silver – whoever does that? For the Syrians to have valuables with them at war, it means they must have fought, won, and taken booty from many enemies in previous battles. God troubled their hearts and made them hear the sound of a mighty army as the lepers approached and they fled. It was a surprising development for the lepers, God had intervened in their situation and erased their greatest fear; their negative expectations did not happen. He changed an evil report to good news.
In recent times, the air waves have been filled with so much negativity and evil report, so much that the hearts of many are failing. However, God wants to change the narrative and show you His power. Jesus announced His ministry mandate when He said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor,” – that is, the blind poor, the broken-hearted poor, the captive poor, salvation-poor etc.; indeed, the poor in every area of life, seeking the power of the Good News to bring them the hope they crave and long for.
Good News is a report of joy, information of peace and news of sweetness about things, situations and persons. It is God announcing to you that your situation is about to change, that you are about to see the manifestation of your prayers, irrespective of what you are looking to Him for. You wouldn’t just hear it, you will see and touch it, whether it’s a new job, promotion, spouse, children, healing, breakthroughs. The Good News will be a fulfillment of your aspirations; a welcome development; God will visit all the issues you have already given up on.
Jacob (the patriarch) experienced sorrow in life. He lost his beloved wife, Rachael, then his precious son, Joseph, later Simeon was detained in Egypt and finally, Benjamin was about to be taken. Jacob, in despair, said, “Should Benjamin die, my gray hair will go down to the grave with sorrow (Genesis 44:29).” However, God intervened and his Good News came; ‘Joseph was still alive, and he was governor over all the land of Egypt.’ Jacob’s heart stood still, he was dazed and dumbfounded. Although it was what he hoped for, it came so unexpectedly, it was too good to be true. I declare to you today, “You will hear news so good you will say, “It’s a lie!”” When the Lord turned the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. God will give you a shocker, just believe in Him!
God will do that thing you have been waiting for, and revive your spirit. Proverbs 25:25 which says “As cold water to a weary soul, so is good news from a far country.” He will restore what you think you lost; He will cause you to laugh again. He will answer prayers you have given up on, He will give you good news this season, in Jesus’ name. Whatever unfavorable situation you have lived with or any good thing you have been deprived of, the Lord brings about a change and gives you an answer of peace. The Lord will ensure that this season, you will continually hear…Good News!

+ Thank God for this season of Good News. Good news will replace bad news; beauty for ashes; gladness for pain and joy for sorrow.
+ Everything that matters to you matters to God. Therefore, pray and build a hedge of protection around yourself, your work, ministry, business, family, health etc.
+ Declare that you are a bringer of Good News. Your words will be seasoned with salt; you will have no need to report bad news to friends or family or anybody.
Thank you Jesus for “a word in due season” one that has revived my spirit.
