“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” – Proverbs 18:21
REFERENCE:
The mouth is the most potent weapon God gave humanity. I say that because God Himself used His words (mouth) to speak the world, we see today into existence. Our text says life and death are in the power of the tongue. The mouth (which houses the tongue) is a creative force; it can create a haven of peace, joy, or prosperity; if misused, it can also create a miserable life.
I saw a social media post that said something like this: A young man tells his mother, “I may just die; I feel like dying.” And the mother promptly said, “Don’t say such a thing; it may happen; watch your tongue!” Much later, he said, “I will drive a Mercedes Benz,” the mother responded, “Do you think it is just mouth you will use to drive a Benz?” Aren’t we often all guilty of the same? We believe our words when negative and doubt them when they are positive.
In your journey to a fulfilled and meaningful life, make your mouth your ally, not your enemy. The future you desire is significantly connected to what you do with your mouth. Success, peace of mind, good health, a happy marriage, etc., are all in your mouth. Words are containers of power. Jesus said, “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Whatever you want to experience is your choice; it is all in your mouth.
Many people have used their mouths to put themselves in difficult situations. Proverbs 18:6-7 says, “A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for blows. A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.” It suggests you are not acting wise if you use your mouth to destroy your life, marriage, business relationship, or employment.
Life is like a restaurant; what you order is what you are served. So, what are you ordering with your mouth – blessings or setbacks, health or sickness, favor or ill luck? Don’t be a victim in the theatre of life; use your words cautiously and intentionally to create a good life. How would you like your life to turn out? Happy, fortunate, successful, etc.? It is all in your mouth. Life and death are in the power of the tongue; if you value it, you will reap its many benefits.

PRAYER:
+ Speak a crop failure over every negative word planted like a seed in the soil of your destiny.
+ Water with words, every positive thing you once declared over your life. Re-state them now.
+ You shall have whatever you say. So, speak those things you want to see in every aspect of your life into existence today.
