“So, the LORD relented concerning this. “It shall not be, said the LORD.” ~ Amos 7:1
REFERENCE:
Our fallen nature makes us quick to read negative meanings to things that don’t instantly signify good. It is the same approach many have to their dreams, especially bad ones; they conclude that they are doomed, evil will befall them, and satan (or God) is out to kill them. ‘Ministries’ are built on these fears, which make people run to and fro, seeking interpreters of dreams.
God intended to punish Israel; He showed Amos a vision of locusts He formed as instruments of His wrath to eat up their spring crop. In Joel 1-2, the prophet related the locusts to the Assyrian army. This vision (dream) was from God, sure and sealed. Israel sinned and deserved judgment and severe punishment, but we see God’s mercy towards His children; how slow He is to punish them when they have done wrong. Why didn’t God proceed to punish them without first giving the vision? Why did He have to tell anyone that judgment was coming? It was so that they would plead with Him. He showed His proposed judgment to Amos so that he might, through prayerful intercession, give Him reasons to relent.
If God will allow His children to intercede with Him and change His mind, why do you think having a bad dream means you are doomed? Even if what you witnessed in your dream is demonic and threatens evil, ask yourself, “This thing could have happened without this prior notice; so why this dream?” It is God saying you can do something about whatever you dreamt. A bad dream does not mean a bad reality. Just because someone prophesied negativity, judgment, evil, or failure about you does not mean they will happen.
Dreams, good or bad, are like TV adverts. You can decide what you want to do with them. If you think they are bad, refuse to buy through your intercession; if good, procure them in the place of prayers. Amos prayed, “O Lord GOD, forgive, I pray! Oh, that Jacob may stand, for he is small!” and God relented. God only passed through Abraham’s house to tell him about His intention to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, so Abraham could ask Him to relent. Scripture says, “While men slept, the enemy sowed tares.” I say, “When men wake up, let them ‘uproot’ the tares.” No bad dream is fatal. God can relent, and it can turn around for good.
