We conclude our discuss from where we left off yesterday about breaking free from the familiar and shifting gears to better levels. Our text has also shifted from (Verse 6) where God ‘told the children of Israel that they have stayed too long in a particular mountain’ to (Verse 8) where He tells them to ‘go and occupy the land He has given them;’ so we are shifting gears. To shift gears means, ‘To suddenly change what you are doing, especially the way you think about a particular thing.’ However, you cannot shift until you are sensitive to the sounds around you, whether physical, internal or spiritual. It is the sounds you hear around you that will tell you when it is time to shift gears.
Elijah heard the sound of an abundance of rain and he changed his strategy to praying differently. (1 Kings 18:41-44).
The four lepers heard the sound of dissatisfaction with the status quo within them so they moved, and the Lord magnified their steps to cause pandemonium in the enemy’s camp. (11 Kings 7:3-5).
Blind Bartimaeus heard the sound of a multitude, enquired, and then he shifted gears from begging for money to begging for mercy. (Luke 18:36-37).
The Apostles in the early church heard the sound of complaining in the church and they shifted gears by appointing deacons to help…and the church exploded in number. (Acts 6:1-7).
What sounds have you been hearing around you and ignoring? (From people and events around telling you it is time to shift gears).
Regardless of the sounds prodding you right now, THE MOST IMPORTANT SOUND YOU MUST HEAR – one that will change your life – is the voice of God. You must listen for His voice this year. That means you must not compromise on seeking Him daily through prayers and study of the Word for direction. I want to assure you that as you listen for God’s voice, you will discern the right timing, and shift gears, and then you will go forward in every sphere of life.
I declare ‘A BETTER YOU WILL EMERGE THIS YEAR IN THE NAME OF JESUS!’

3. By faith thank God for unstopping your ears and causing you to hear the sound that will change your life forever, in Jesus name.
