And the angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, ‘The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!’ – Judges 6:12
REFERENCE:
Gideon was at his lowest point in the context of this story. A man who was to become a valiant soldier was hiding in a cave to pick grains, afraid and unsure of himself and his future. Unknown to him was the victory he would later win for his people that he looked nothing like.
Things around Gideon were not adding up; whatever he had heard about God seemed like fables, and he was about to lose his livelihood and family. Then God came and called him, “Mighty man of valor.” It seemed a contradiction, but God has a way of naming us based on where we are going to and not what we are going through – what we will become and not what we are. While Simon was yet an unstable personality, Jesus named him Peter (Rock); he later became a pillar in the church. When Jacob had only a few children and livestock, uncertain about his future, God named him Israel (Triumphant with God) and made him a nation. He named Abram Abraham (Father of nations) when he could not bear children.
If God came to you today, knowing what He knows about you, but more importantly, knowing His plans for you, what name would He call you? I bet He would look at you despite your not enough, failure, worries, loneliness, heartaches, troubles, fear, regrets, and any other inadequacy you feel, and will say as He said to Gideon – “I AM with you, you president of the nation, you fruitful vine, you employer of labor, you artist of the year, you landlord/landlady, you prophet to the nations, you scientist, you billionaire, you happily married, etc.” This reality of a new and better version of you presently exists. You may not be living in it yet, but since God created it, sees it, and knows it, He is naming you by it today. Just answer your new name.
God sees you as a person of good prospects and prosperity because He knows your end from the beginning. Be like God; begin to call yourself by a new name that reflects your destiny; that is how God talks, and that is how faith talks. Boldly declare where you are going to and not what you are going through. If you faithfully announce your new name, God will faithfully accomplish its fulfillment in your life, in Jesus’ name.
By faith, mention (or describe) your new name in the comment section. God is with you!
