“And if you have not been faithful in what is another man’s, who will give you what is your own?” ~ Luke 16:12
REFERENCE:
We all desire to be bigger than where we presently are, anticipating better positions, pay, and privileges. We look forward to a day that we will have our own business, project, house, office, clientele, workshop, or showroom. It is a good desire (ambition); however, the likelihood of any of this happening is in connection to where you are today. THE BIG IS IN THE SMALL.
Notice the language (tense) in verse 10 of our text. “He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much…” It does not say, “He who is faithful in what is least will be faithful in much;” it says, “…is faithful in much.” In God’s eyes, if you are faithful where you are now, He sees you as already faithful in greater things. How you treat where you are, depicts how you will treat where you hope to go. You don’t grow big to manage well; you manage well to grow big. Your present actions (in your office, your boss’ business, assignments from your supervisor, etc.) greatly determine if God will consider you fit for higher responsibility or not.
Some people say, “Well, it is not my business, shop, firm, etc.,” so they are sloppy in their jobs, rude to customers, let stocks run out, don’t follow up on sales satisfaction, and are not concerned about marketing or inviting people to the shop – all because it is not theirs. You fail to understand that by that action, you are already saying to God that you are not fit for promotion, ownership, or something bigger. What you are doing right now is a scorecard of how you will handle tomorrow, and your scorecard is what determines your promotion.
An elderly carpenter, ready to retire, told his boss of his plans to resign from building houses and live leisurely with his wife and kids. There will be no more salary, but he needed to retire. The contractor was sad to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said he would, but in time it was obvious that his heart was not in his work. He did a shoddy job and used inferior materials. It was an awful way to end his career. When he finished, his boss came to inspect the house, handed the key to the carpenter, and said, “This is your house. It is my gift to you.” What a shame! If he had known it was his house he was building, he would have built it well. Now he would live in the ugly house. His scorecard on that building project is evident in the quality of the house he will always live in.
Where have you found yourself? God is keeping a record; He is presently filling your scorecard. I can assure you that if you score high where you are now, you are (already) qualified for where you hope to be. In the name of Jesus, your promotion and breakthrough will no longer delay.

PRAYERS:
+ I ask for a renewed commitment to the work I have to do at this time, whether it is mine or not.
+ I repent of all careless attitudes towards my work. I pray for a sense of ownership to rule my actions and decisions in the organization I work in now.
+ As I remain faithful in little, Lord, commit much to me. As I am faithful in another man’s, please, commit mine to me.
In reading this, one word came to mind, ‘Conscientious’, which means a moral obligation to do things well. May we blessed with such a spirit and more so may God be the one to reward us. Amen 🙏🏼
Amen!
“A moral obligation to do things well” Wow! I’m going to tuck this one in my spirit.
Amen!
Reading this and two things come to mind.
1. The competence and character I require to manage much is built and already consolidated in my experience handling little. Do not take for granted this season, it is gain.
2. God is also telling me that beyond managing much of earthly things, the character, disciple and competence gained in managing earthly things, sets the tone for my capacity to handle even spiritual things/gifts.
Hmmm, interesting.
#the character, discipline and competence
True that. Great thoughts.
Now IS then,
This IS that,
Little IS much, and
Another man’s IS mine.
They are ALL CONNECTED, and I pray to God that I will always see it so.
Thank you for the reminder to see how things connect.
