“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” ~ Revelation 4:11 (KJV)

The most intriguing thing about man is his ability to create things. When God made man in His image, He gave him the capacity to create like Him. To create is to bring something into existence. Imagine what man has created: planes, rockets, microwave ovens, phones, robots, and submarines. Yet, no creation (of God or man) is without a purpose for its existence.
There is usually an affinity between the creator and the creation. Men often patent their creations and call them by their names, e.g., Ford (Henry Ford), Jacuzzi (Candido Jacuzzi), Saxophone (Adolphe Sax), Honda (Soichiro Honda), and Colgate (William Colgate). Do you know that you bear the name and image of God? He made you for a purpose: to bring Him pleasure.
When God thought of you and me and created us, He intended that we would always give Him joy. He sought fellowship with and worship from us; He wanted our lives to be an extension of His on earth and that when the world sees us, they will see Him in us. If you don’t exist for the glory of God, you have no right to exist. It is what it is; the creator determines the purpose.
How are you to give God pleasure? It is simply to devote yourself to doing the things that will give Him joy and to avoid whatever displeases or dishonors Him. In Genesis 6, when God saw man’s wickedness, He “…was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.” In contrast, God fellowshipped with and took Enoch away because He pleased Him.
Commit to giving God pleasure—live a life of obedience. Give yourself to prayer and worship. Serve His people, advance and support His kingdom, and be determined to discover and fulfill your purpose. As your day starts, partner with God to tell someone He loves them, extend kindness to someone, give a little more time to singing His praise, and say to Him that your life is available to do with it what pleases Him. You are created for His pleasure.
