Now therefore, thus shall you say to my servant David, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts: “I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people Israel.”‘ – 1 Chronicles 17:7

The things God allows you to go through in life that seems so small and insignificant are mostly what He uses to train you for the bigger tasks ahead; and that is why you should be faithful and diligent wherever you are right now because it is just a preparatory school. Look at where you are and what you do right now as a seed, and as that seed is watered, it will continue to grow until it begins to bear fruits of greatness.
At the right time, God will take all the skills, knowledge, exposure and experience you have acquired in the smaller tasks and use them for a bigger assignment that will bless humanity and bring glory to His name.
David started out as a shepherd boy who tended sheep but God lifted him to be king (shepherd) over His people, Peter was a fisherman but he ended as an Apostle of God – fishing men for God, Daniel was an astute administrator in the kings palace in Babylon – small wonder that he was promoted to Adviser/Minister to the king in no time.
So wherever you are now, or that you may find yourself later is never small, it is in fact a stepping stone to bigger opportunities of service to God and humanity.
