These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. – John 16:33
REFERENCE
John 16:33
As Christians, many of us don’t want to come to terms with the truth Jesus expressed in today’s text concerning tribulation (i.e. trouble) coming to us; because trouble gets us worried, it brings discomfort, anxiety and inconvenience. Although nobody prays to have trouble, yet we experience it one way or another in our lives.
The times we find ourselves in trouble, is not the time to backslide, stop attending church or completely abandon our faith, as the case is with some Christians. Consider what Jesus said to do when faced with trouble; “but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
That means don’t PANIC! Be cheerful because He has already overcome whatever the world throws at you. Therefore, the trouble that comes to you is incapable of destroying you. To overcome means to succeed in dealing with a problem or difficulty.
Jesus has given His Word, that He has succeeded in dealing with the problems of the world, so you ought to rejoice, and declare that “THIS TOO SHALL PASS.” The Overcomer of the world lives in you, and that makes you an overcomer. Renew your mind with this truth, and begin to reign victoriously over the things that once gave you panic attacks.
