“And he moved from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. So he called its name Rehoboth, because he said, ‘For now the LORD has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.’” – Genesis 26:22
REFERENCE:
Nothing is as disheartening as putting so much effort into something and not seeing corresponding results. It is even worse when external forces sabotage your efforts and make progress difficult. Isaac, an otherwise industrious man, found himself in such a situation; the Philistines worked against all his business interests, but he never stopped trying.
Besides the fact that these forces sabotage your effort, you lose time. Some people give up trying again when they think of lost time, effort, or money, but if you feel like that, you will stagnate. It is why many have given up on themselves, not willing to try again after a setback, ‘thinking’ that they are too old. Yet, if you don’t stop trying, God can still bless you despite your age, lost chances, or negative past experiences.
Isaac faced resistance because the Philistines envied him as an industrious entrepreneur who, although a stranger in the land, was prospering. So, they did everything to stop him; they filled his wells with sand (let me say – they burnt his shop, refused to sell the property to him, changed legislation to checkmate him, etc.) all in a bid to stop his financial dominance, but he kept trying.
Isaac was tenacious and resilient; he let his objective of having wells to water his livestock and plants motivate him. It must have taken weeks to dig a well to get water in that desert land only to be dispossessed twice or thrice. Yet, Isaac kept trying. Don’t stop trying; you are not too old, it is not too late, it can happen again, and you can start again. Don’t stop pursuing your dreams because of temporary setbacks or adversities; you will get to your Rehoboth like Isaac.
Isaac could have let the herdsmen of Gerar kill his dream of investing in wells when they stopped all the wells he inherited from his father, Abraham, and the two he first dug. Instead, he kept digging until he found his ‘Rehoboth.’ Rehoboth means broad places or streets. Do not let men’s hate, envy, castigation, slurs, lies, or ethnic profiling stop you. God will give you ‘streets’ and ‘broad places’ where you are. Dare to dare. Don’t retire; re-fire. Don’t stop trying.

CONFESSION:
Like a tree planted by the waters, I am fruitful in and out of season. No situation can stop me from bearing fruits. I rise above hate, envy, opposition, and oppression and prosper regardless. God supplies all my needs and prospers all I set my hands to do. No setback will set me back, and I will keep an appointment with destiny despite disappointments, in Jesus’ name.
Amen 🙌🏾
