Then I raised my eyes and looked, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand. – Zechariah 2:1
The dictionary defines limit as a point or level beyond which something does not or may not extend or pass. It is a restriction on the size or amount of something possible or permissible. A limitation then, controls what a person is able to do, have or become.
A limited man is a restricted man who, in spite of his potential, suffers the fate of a pauper in the midst of opportunities. He cannot go beyond the limit that certain adversarial forces have set for him. Although he knows and sees where he ought to be or what he ought to have, his efforts are however, yet to take him there.
Life, as it were, is designed to impose limits; sometimes, by nature itself or by human competition for scarce commodities or survival. We all have limitations, but they are not meant to limit us; rather they are there in order that when we break them, we can grow and be achievers. Those who break limits in life are known as achievers and world changers.
In our main text; Zechariah saw the vision of a young man who took a measuring line to go measure God’s new Jerusalem; an angel was quickly dispatched after him with a message, “Don’t do it! DROP YOUR MEASURING TAPE!
Your boundary is not in the hands of any man, it is not in the hands of any circumstance and it is not in the hands of your history… So, don’t let your educational qualification, family background, environment, the heartbreaks you experienced in the past, etc, limit what you can have in life. The Bible says your life is hidden in God with Christ Jesus. Sitting in an airplane makes you overcome gravity and travel at a phenomenal speed, both of which you ordinarily cannot do by yourself. Therefore, being in God, who is limitless, automatically causes you to prevail over some limitations of life.
God is never limited by time, space or situations. He is a God of no boundaries. He can take you to the highest height in life. Drop the measuring lines you have today, and let the bigness and greatness of God determine the bigness and greatness you can attain in life. I see you go very far and achieve the impossible, in Jesus name!
This week on Inspired 2Go, we will be talking about limitations and how they can be broken.
“The limitless God is my limit, the boundless God is my boundary and the uncontainable God is my container.”
“I shall be a city without walls… God Himself is the boundary of my exploits, He is my limitation and He determines how far I go!”
