A woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table. Matthew 26:7
REFERENCE
Matthew 26:6-13
This week and the next are termed as the ‘most important’ in Christendom, because in them we celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ; the reason for Christianity. Therefore, we have dedicated this week to talk about ‘Easter and it’s Lessons’ on Inspired2Go!
The woman in this story showed the value she placed on Jesus when she brought an unadulterated fragrant oil to lavish lovingly on Him. It is surprising to note however, that the disciples of Jesus who had been with Him all along and knew who He was, were the ones that felt this act was a waste of resource. They didn’t think He was worth such high level worship.
This woman was inadvertently permitted by God the privilege of embalming the body of the Lord Jesus Christ for burial, when He was alive to witness it. Her act of worship bares eternal significance because it is spoken of wherever the gospel is preached. The other ladies who purposed to anoint Jesus’ body were restrained from it, first because it was sabbath and second because He had resurrected.
Although this woman was condemned by people, she was highly commended by God.
Today’s Lessons: Worship God with reckless abandon and don’t let anyone stop you. Their opinion doesn’t matter as long as God accepts your offering of worship.
You must not push the good you can do to others today till tomorrow, for chance and opportunity may not favor you.
Have a MEMORABLE time in His presence this MONDAY!
ADDITIONAL STUDY
Mark 16:1-8 and Psalm 95:1-6.
