There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment… I John 4:18

I John 4:18
One of Satan’s greatest weapons against mankind is FEAR! If he can plant his fear in your heart, then, he can perform his works in your life. Job said, “For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me.” (Job 3:25).
Fear, as revealed from our text contains torment; and torment symbolizes pain and suffering. Satan uses fear to enslave, cause stagnation, incapacitate, and control people. He also uses it to paint a picture of a hopeless and helpless future to them. Whenever you hear your inner voice ask you a negative question, e.g. “What if you never make it in life?” Know that Satan wants to sow the seed of fear in you. If that seed takes root, it will bring a negative harvest.
Daily, we are bombarded with several thoughts of fear – the fear of rejection, failure, death, the un-known, etc. these fears can lead to panic attacks and hurt our lives; but II Timothy 1:7 makes us under-stand that God has not given you a spirit of FEAR. So, fear of any kind is unnatural and not of God.
This means you can live without fear. How? Firstly, by being led by the Holy Spirit, responding to His voice and walking in obedience to the Word of God. Secondly, do not entertain fear in your heart. When the tormenting voice of fear speaks to your mind, you have to shut it up with the Word of God. If you hear a whisper in your mind, “This symptom will turn fatal,” answer back, “With long life HE WILL satisfy me and show me His salvation!”
It is common parlance that you can’t stop a bird from flying over your head, but you can stop it from building a nest there. That is exactly the way you handle fear; you can’t stop the thoughts of fear from passing through your mind but you can stop them from building a stronghold there.
God knows you have the capacity to be fearless that is why He commanded you to “Fear not!” Besides, HE WHOM THE SON MAKES FREE, IS FREE INDEED! (John 8:36).
