For it shall come to pass in that day; says the Lord of hosts, ‘that I will break his yoke from your neck, and will burst your bonds; foreigners shall no more enslave them.’ Jeremiah 30:8
REFERENCE
Jeremiah 30:1-10
It is not God’s will for His children to labor under any influence that enslaves them and renders them powerless; rather His will is for His children to be free to serve Him alone. This thought summarizes the above passage. From scriptures we can see how God delivered His children from their oppressors, time and time again; from this, we can deduce that God hates oppression, He hates the things that threaten the existence and freedom of His children and He always takes their side to show them His mercy and loving-kindness.
Talking about God’s deliverance in Psalm 18:17-18 David said, “He delivered me from my strong enemy, from those who hated me, for they were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my support.” David’s enemies were too strong for him to handle by himself, and they confronted him in his calamity – when he was most vulnerable and couldn’t defend himself. God also delivered His children at different times from their slave masters both in Egypt and in Babylon, and when three powerful nations ganged up against Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, it took the might of God to deliver him and his people from those strong enemies (II Chronicles 20).
Sometimes in life, we are confronted with things that are too strong for us, things that make us take our focus off God, giving attention instead to them. These issues attack us when we are most susceptible and can’t fight back against them. They come in form of terminal illnesses, joblessness, marital problems, financial challenges, debts, satanic oppression, afflictions, addictions, troubles, emotional trauma, a bad economy, etc.
However, God, as in times past, has a plan of deliverance for His children (believers) even today, irrespective of what is confronting us. God has not changed, He has not grown weaker, and He is able to deliver us from any yoke of bondage.
Our text promises a future day when God will break yokes and remove burdens off His children’s necks. By faith, you can receive today as that future day that deliverance should take place in your life based on the truth in Luke 4:18 which declared that Jesus was sent to liberate the captives and set the oppressed free. Jesus has already come and paid the price for your deliverance; so, stand up and walk in the liberty He died to give you. No more laboring under slavery. Deliverance is yours, take it by faith!
