Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Are you not therefore mistaken, because you do not know the scriptures nor the power of God?’ – Mark 12:24
REFERENCE
Mark 12:18-24
Ignorance of scriptures opens the door to mistakes in life. Many people rashly conclude about matters that significantly affect their lives and this has led to many bad decisions, wrong judgment and bad choices.
In answer to the Sadducees’ question, Jesus told them that they were ignorant of the scriptures and also of the power of God. Ignorance of scripture means one is unaware of God’s mind or position on a matter; and ignorance of the power of God means that one does not know what God has the ability to do. Certainly, you cannot access the power of God if you do not know the scriptures. E.g. Ignorance of the truth, “By His stripes, we were healed,” will make it difficult for you to access God’s power for healing in a time of illness.
If the devil can keep you ignorant of scriptures, he will cheat you of every opportunity to experience God’s power in areas of your life where you need His miracle. Prophet Hosea (4:6) said on God’s behalf: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” The cost of ignorance is one you cannot afford; between you and the miracle you need is a ‘revealed’ truth in the Word.
Psalm 119:105 says: “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” A diligent study of God’s Word will enlighten you and dispel every darkness (ignorance) around you. That ‘light’ will enthrone you in the theatre of life; it will teach you how to properly raise your children, how to effectively run your organization, do business profitably, enjoy a blissful marriage, succeed in your relationships and walk in total life victory.
