“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea…behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?” ~ Matthew 2:1-2
REFERENCE:
“Have you heard?” You must have heard this phrase several times, often relating to a rumor in your community. You wonder, “Why am I always the last person to hear what is happening?” True, if it is about a rumor, you don’t need to bother yourself, but if it is information that could help your business, protect you, your family, and your investment, or give you a head start on a business idea or project, then you will wish you had heard earlier.
Information is powerful. The more (of the right) information you have, the more empowered you are. Knowing the laws governing business or investments will make you more prudent than someone who doesn’t know. If you know the mind of God about any matter, it assures your heart. Information comes by hearing, but we are often so unconcerned that we miss out.
For years, many Jewish prophets foretold that the Messiah would be born amongst them by a virgin. It eventually happened with quite a fanfare: Angels appeared to some shepherds. A host of angels sang in the skies. A bright and unusual star hung in the sky. Scientists debate that it could be a supernova, a comet, a solar flare, or an alignment of planets. It was so phenomenal that wise men (stargazers) saw the star from Persia and came to Jerusalem to find its meaning.
When the magi arrived in Jerusalem, they were saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?” The Greek of ‘saying’ is present continuous; it shows continual action. The magi went around the city asking anyone they met, “Have you heard?” They knew of this epic birth as foreigners and assumed anyone in Judea, and certainly in Jerusalem, would know of the baby’s location. They must have been shocked that no one knew about the birth.
The Savior came to their doorstep, but they knew nothing about it. How ready are you to learn about happenings around you? Current affairs, investment openings, business ideas, the latest breakthroughs in your profession, etc. Don’t bury your head in the ground. The information for your breakthrough is within your reach, in your proximity, on the internet, on the news, or with a colleague. Finally, the bible contains truths that will change your life, but have you heard?
